Pushpa ( husband shown in photograph) lives in Ipalogama in Anuradhapura district. It is a rural area with lack of transport facilities. Pushpa is engaged in a building block making business in this area. Though she has the resources to find raw materials from her area, due to the remoteness of her village transportation is a major problem for Pushpa.
Pushpa’s income is Rs. 15,000 per month approximately. But it is not sufficient to fulfill her family needs. Because she is having a daughter who still schooling. Pushpa’s husband is a farmer. With her 6 years of experience she had a plan to make transportation easy. But she ran into financial difficulties in making this happen. So she became a member of BMI in 2012 and got a loan amount of Rs. 25,000 for her business to smoothen transportation.
The first loan was given a huge support to build-up her industry. But another problem arose too. Now she is finding difficulties in purchasing firewood. Firewood is a very essential raw material for block making. So, she has applied for another loan to overcome his firewood issues. Now, Pushpa applied for a loan amount of Rs. 50,000.
