Jeewanthi is a new member to the BMI living in a small village in the Kurunegalle District. She is 30 years old, married and has two small children, a son 7 years and a daughter 2years. Her husband works as a clerk in a company in the Biyagama area. Jeewanthi runs a small grocery store in her village, selling a small number of items to the nearby villagers. She earns from this business a very small sum of LKR 5,000/- per month on average. This amount is sufficient only to meet their day to day living expenses for a few days.
Jeewanthi is interested in expanding the shop and developing it to meet the demand of her clients and also to gain new clients. She has applied to BMI to grant her a loan of LKR 30,000/- to be used for to furnish the shop with the required goods and items. She hopes and dreams that her little shop will someday soon become a large grocery store and will be a one stop shop for the people in her village. She is very determined to see the improvement to her business take place and grow from strength to strength and become a successful entrepreneur. This hope is for the future of her children and more so for herself. She is a confident personality and is determined to make a success out of her very small business.
