Thilakasiri is an owner of a concrete flower pot production shop from Weragoda area in Kegalle district. He is employed as a worker in postal department of the area and this business is a part time additional income source.
He joined BMI n 2011 July and obtained a loan of LKR 25,000. He used the loan money to purchase the raw materials required for the business. He had been doing this business for three years and his average monthly income is around LKR 25,000. Now he is planning to expand his business and seeks to take the second loan of LKR 50,000 from BMI. He is planning to use the money to purchase more raw materials and increase the amount of production and product range.
Thilakasiri is a good social worker in the area and he is an active member of Death Benevolence society in the village. His family comprises of his wife, two daughters and his elderly mother. Both of his daughters are still having their primary education. Since the income from his job is not enough to cover the total family costs, he wants to develop the part time business also to create a good income for them. He wishes to slowly develop the business and engage in it full time when he is retiring. He wants to own a successful business that will enable him to create a good future for his two girls.
