Sriyani is a resident from Galigamuwa area and lives there with her husband and son. Her husband is a driver by profession and her son is employed as a soldier in Sri Lankan armed forces. Sriyani is engaged in retail business and owns a a grocery shop in the village.
Sriyani has taken her two loans from BMI, LKR 25,000 in 2010 February and LKR 50,000 in 2011 April. In both instances she has used the money to purchase grocery items in bulk for her shop and in the second time she also used the money to do few renovations in the business premises. At present she earns a monthly income of LKR 45,000 from her business.
She has started her business about 12 years ago and now has achieved a good success. She is planning to expand it more to provide a wider variety of good to her customers in the village. Therefore, to purchase these items and renovate the front side of the shop, she has now applied for a third loan of LKR 75,000 from BMI. She hopes that this investment also would pay her off well, as in the previous instances.
Sriyani is not only popular business woman, but also a recognized social worker in her village. She is an active member of village Death Benevolence Society and Welfare Society. Sriyani wishes to earn a good income from her business and support her husband in building a strong economical condition in their family.
