Jinadasa is a successful banana merchant in Kotiyakumbura area. He buys banana from farmers in the area and sells banana in bulk to the adjacent retails shops and in village fair. He has around 7 years of experience in this business and fairy successful in carrying it out. His monthly income from the business at present is around LKR 30,000.
He is a BMI client from 2010 May and has taken two former loans from BMI. His first loan was LKR 25,000 and the second was LKR 50,000. Both loans were used to finance his fruit business that is, to buy merchandise from farmers and transport them. Now he has applied for a third loan from BMI to further finance the business. Since banana has a big continuous demand throughout the year, he wished to increase the amounts he buys and the areas he covers. He wishes to use the loan money to facilitate these activities.
Jinadasa has one son who is still schooling. His wife is also employed as a domestic dress maker in the village. Jinadasa hopes to develop his business into a sustainable one that earns a high and steady income. He hopes that would help him to uplift their living conditions and create a good future for their child.
