Chandani is a BMI client from Kegalle district. She lives in the village called Devalegama with her husband and two children. Her husband is a Army Officer in Sri Lanka Armed Forces. The children are still schooling.
Chandani first joined BMI in 2010 August and obtained a loan of LKR 20,000. This was used to renovate the partially completed house they were living. Then she took another loan of LKR 50,000 from BMI in 2011 September, to repair and service the three-wheeler they were hiring.
Now Chandani is planning finance her new business of selling clothing materials including bed linen and finished garments. The loan money will be used to purchase these items in bulk. According to Chandani, she got this business idea after participating in a motivation training organized by BMI enterprise development service facility. Now she is applying for the third BMI loan of LKR 75,000 to finance this business. She also hopes to use part of the loan money to service the three-wheeler as well.
She is very excited about her new business and has lot of hopes to develop it in to a sustainable venture. She expects that it would generate a good income to support the family as well. Her final goal is to establish own cloth shop in the area.
