About Nadeeka Kumari Kariyawasam

Nadeeka started her business with the financial assistance from BMI in year 2010. The first loan of LKR 25,000 was utilized to purchase a sewing machine, and then she started sewing the carpets. While this loan was going on Nadeeka underwent a training related to dress making and carpet producing. During the year 2012, Nadeeka completely repaid back the first loan. She is now taking the second loan of 50,000 rupees. Using the money, Nadeeka wants to obtain materials to produce carpets. Nadeeka’s husband is daily wage laborer and the income Nadeeka earns from carpet making supports the family to improve the living standards. Through this income Nadeeka and her husband support their son and elderly mother.
